Piano removal service comes down to weight, width, and access. A spinet is under 300 lbs and fits through a standard door. A concert grand is close to 1,000 lbs and has to come apart before it moves. Here's what we typically charge in Central Florida:

Why are pianos so hard to move?

  • Weight. The cast-iron harp plate inside the piano is 150–500 lbs by itself. The rest of the frame adds another 150–500 lbs.
  • Uneven balance. Most of the weight sits on one end, which makes tipping and cornering dangerous without proper dollies and straps.
  • Fragile finish. Lacquer and polyester finishes chip and scratch instantly on door jambs, stair edges, and walls.
  • Doorway clearance. A full upright is 60"+ wide and rarely fits through a standard doorway without tilting or removing the door.
  • Stairs and tight turns. Every stair doubles the injury risk. We use stair-climbing dollies and a 2–3 person crew on any flight.

Do you try to donate the piano first?

Yes. If the piano is playable and in reasonable shape, we'll reach out to our local donation contacts — schools, churches, community centers, and families — before we dispose of it. That said, the free-piano market is saturated, and many older uprights can't find a home. If nothing takes it, the piano gets broken down and disposed of at a C&D landfill, with the cast-iron plate recycled as scrap.

Can you remove a piano from a second floor?

Yes. We do stair removals regularly. Expect a – surcharge per flight, depending on turns, landings, and railings. Narrow spiral staircases require special handling and are quoted individually.

How long does piano removal take?

Most uprights are out and on the truck in 45–90 minutes. Grands take longer because we disassemble the legs, pedal lyre, and music rack first — usually 1–2 hours total.

What Central Florida cities do you serve?

Piano removal is available across Kissimmee, Orlando, St. Cloud, Celebration, Poinciana, Davenport, Clermont, Winter Garden, Lake Nona, Sanford, and the rest of our service areas.
